Certain imaging technology was once used to identify imperfections on industrial surfaces. Now this technology is being turned to look to the human face! The features of a human face can now be mapped out in 3D, bringing with it a host of valuable applications, especially in the area of security.
Images used in software that adjusts for light and other conditions can map out a human face in 3D to be used by security officials. Coupled with 3D modelling techniques, a suspect can now be in 3D with, perhaps, some glasses, a moustache, and how about we throw in that wig as well! It makes for powerful identification methods.
