The internationally adorned cartoon series Tintin created by belgian comic writer Georges "Herge" Remi will be turned into a 3D film! None other than Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson will be at the helm of recreating the Tintin stories into a movie trilogy.
Selling more than 200 million copies worldwide, the Tintin series is about the adventures of a young reporter who will persue leads to the ends of the earth. During his travels, he calls upon a colourful bunch of cohordes to help him out, including his white dog, Snowy.
The films will be using state-of-the-art motion capture technology to ensure characters have just as much personality as their paper counterparts. Keeping to this seems a priority for the two Directors as Spielberg commented:
"Herge's characters
have been reborn as living beings, expressing emotion and a soul which
goes far beyond anything we've seen to date with computer animated
characters. We want Tintin's adventures to have the reality of a
live-action film, and yet Peter and I felt that shooting them in a
traditional live-action format would simply not honor the distinctive
look of the characters and world that Herge created."
It's speculated that the Tintin movies could get rolling as early as next year, after Spielberg finishes Indiana Jones 4, and Jackson finishes The Lovely Bones. Spielberg and Jackson will be directing one of the 3 movies each, but who will direct the third is still mystery...
