In a previous post I detailed a somewhat sneaky shortcut to some 3D fun by going to the sites of the folks that make the software and systems that 'enable' 3D developers, and checking out their samples. Sure, if you find you are hooked and want to start producing 3D content yourself, great, otherwise, just enjoy the hard work and dedication of others, stare into the future and naturally tell all your friends about the sites you love. The more people that we get hooked on 3D the bigger and more exciting it will get in our lifetimes.
So on with the 'sneak' preview.
One of the other Biggies in Graphic Art solutions is CGNetworks. CGNetworks along with a host of sponsors, regularly challenges its users to showoff their skills and the outcomes are well worth bookmarking for a regular fix of quality 3d workmanship.
The Challenge area is a great way to not only see the work of some truly amazing 3D graphic artists but for those with just a bit more interest, you can see the various stages that go into the production of these same images. For example the winner of one such challenge "Machine Flesh" is a truly awesome work by Krishnamurti M. Costa ( Antropus ) albeit as the topic of the challenge suggest the images may not be to everyones fancy.
If you want to get even an iota of understanding of how much creativity and sheer brilliance (couple with great technology from CGNetworks no doubt) goes into creating such a 3d image, then scroll down the page, and down and down and down and down. Yep a hellava lot.
Enjoy and go back often to catch whats new at their challenges (amongst other things)
